Juneteenth is the nation’s oldest celebration of the ending of slavery. But it’s about more than history. It’s about community and bringing people together.

TROY RAFFERTY, ATTORNEY, LEVIN PAPANTONIO RAFFERTY

A Celebration by the Community, for the Community

LPR Attorney Troy Rafferty hopes the entire Pensacola community will come to celebrate freedom together at UnityFest.

“Juneteenth is the nation’s oldest celebration of the ending of slavery,” Rafferty said, “But it’s about more than history. It’s about community and bringing people together. This Juneteenth, it’s my wish that the people of Pensacola celebrate freedom as one.”

Rafferty and the Levin Papantonio Rafferty law firm have been working with Adoration for a New Beginning Church and local leaders to make the first annual Juneteenth UnityFest a meaningful event that’s all about relaxing and having fun with our neighbors.

Rev. Calip Marcel Davis of the Adoration for a New Beginning Church, made this statement about the inspiration behind UnityFest:

“UnityFest is an example of how it’s more about  what unites us than what divides us. This is a day when we celebrate people being free. As our forefathers wrote, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident–that all men are created to equal.’ This is the day when America came to the truth they put on paper. We could be one nation under God.

This is a time to reflect not just on the struggles but also on the achievements of God’s people.

REV. CALIP MARCEL DAVIS, ADORATION FOR A NEW BEGINNING CHURCH

“At one time, we could not go to the park or even be welcome on the beaches, so we had to use the church as a centerpiece to have reunions, to have celebrations, to cry and to fight for justice. With UnityFest, we’re coming back to our first love with singing and dancing, education and learning, and putting all God’s people together. This is a time to reflect not just on the struggles but also on the achievements of God’s people.

“We are excited that people can come together as families and enjoy a day of free food games, and just good old fashioned fellowship.”

A Day of Fun, Relaxation, and Unity
