Lawsuits have been filed against Toyota over defective gas pedal, brakes and floor mats. According to Bloomberg, there have been over 2,000 complaints about sudden acceleration. The LA Times reports that Toyota-made cars and trucks had claimed 19 lives since the 2002 model year, more than all other manufacturers combined and federal regulators say that the crashes are far more than any other automakers have experienced.
Most recently, following more than 100 complaints to federal regulators and reports of a dozen deaths, the Japanese automaker recalled 2.3 million autos because of problems with accelerator pedals getting stuck in the down position. Last year Toyota recalled 4.2 million Toyota and Lexus models after discovering that floor mats were causing gas pedals to get stuck.
